And when it comes to quality link building, a pretty simple formula that works…

“You need a link? Ask for it!”

So the ideal first step is to find the Linkerati for your industry.

Now, Linkerati is just the person with a power to link or we call them the influencers…

In our case, we'll search for top authors in "weight loss tips" category in Buzzsumo.

This way you can easily find Linkeratis in your industry. After building a list of them, write content that they would love to share and link to.

So, when your content is ready you just need to outreach your Linkerati to get a high authority backlink.

Of course, you don’t want to waste time to pitch links that will hardly help you to get any sort of rankings.

There are certain steps that you might consider before outreaching your Linkerati…

Step 1: Look at your own Bowl

The very first step is look at the site that you are going to get quality backlinks for and compare to the site that you are trying to get links from…

●       Is it niche Relevant?

●       How amazing the content is?

●       How’s the site design?

Step 2: Measure the Authority

Once you have a site that you have a chance to get a link from…

– it’s time to measure their authority.

And of course, there are dozens of authority metrics. But, you don’t have to look at each one of it.

The fastest metrics I’ve found to quickly figure out a link’s ranking potential is:

• Domain Authority (DA)
• Majestic SEO Citation/Trust Flow

Step3: Again! Check the Relevancy

I know, I’ve said a lot of times in this blog post but seriously, I mean it.

Tip #3 Resource Backlinks Building

What’s so special about a resource page?

Resource pages are build for only one reason - to link out!

And what else is better that a high authority page is waiting for your link to come.

All you need to do is find some resource pages in your niche and request the webmasters to link your power blog posts…

Simple as that!

Now how do you find your gold mine of resource pages?

Here`s a trick to do that, just type in…

• “niche” + "inurl:links"
• "niche” + "inurl:resources"
• “niche” + “helpful resources”
• “niche” + “other resources”
• “niche” + “resources”
• “niche” + “useful resources”

Notice that it’s “niche” and not “keyword”.

To maximize your target list you should use industry keywords that are somewhat broad.

For example, if you have a site about music, then you’d search for:

Tip #4 Broken Link Building + Resource Pages = Win-Win!

This is my all-time favorite technique to get high quality backlinks…

You may be familiar with the broken link building concept.

Links generally die due to some reasons.

Why?

• Domains not renewed
• Hosting not renewed
• Page deleted or it doesn’t get 301 redirect
• Site changes domain name

And if you can find a broken link from a website, you can contact the webmaster and notify about it, and on the upside you can ask him for a mention or tweet.

Why is he going to do that?

See, everybody knows that a broken link can cause harmful effects on site’s SEO.

And if you notify him, you are actually adding a value, so he will be happy to link to your website for sure!

You can easily approach the webmaster and substantially he will not have a reason not to link your website if your website is really worth it!

Tip #5 Quora Backlinking

You must have heard of Quora, it's filled with people looking for help.

And if you can help them by providing the solution that fits…

By saying that, I mean you can get a lot of potential visitors and also a high authority link straight to your website.

All you have to do is type your niche keyword in search box and you'll see thousands of queries related to your topic.

Pro Tip: Don’t do spam, add some value that people really needs and include your website only when it makes sense. People sense promotional stuff from a mile away!

Tip #6 Forums Posting

This one is the oldest ways to build backlinks...

But posting in forums still work?

Even after the penguin update?

...Yes, they do!

If you add value and don't spam, you will do good.

Industry forums are actually good for getting relevant links...

For example, Warrior forum is a great resource. And apart from links, you’ll get a chance to build some connections.

Pro Tip: Again add tons of value, and mention your website only when it makes sense like linking to a relevant blog post, and also avoid using rich anchor text.

Tip #7 The Applesauce Technique

This technique is coined by Brian Dean.

Here we go:

Step #1: Find authoritative (or semi-authoritative) sites in your niche.

Step #2: Find their most popular pieces of content. You can look at their sidebar for a “best of” or “popular posts” section or Top Pages in Open Site Explorer.

Step #3: Think of a way you can make their content better without having to invest a lot of time or effort.

While this strategy has a VERY high success rate, like anything in SEO, it’s not 100%.

I don’t want you to spend a ton of time on something if you’re not 100% sure that you’ll get your link.

Here are some ways you can improve their content:

• Make a video explanation
• Create a diagram or info graphic
• Translate into another language
• Make an audio version

Step #4: Finally, send them what you made. If it’s a good fit, they’ll incorporate it into their content and will link to you (without you having to ask).

Tip #8 Give testimonials

Whether it’s a big or small company, they all love to show testimonials on their websites.

So, just send them a testimonial of a product or service that you liked.

Also tell them to mention your website along that testimonial.

Tip #9 Donate to Charity

High authority sites like .org or .edu have a “donate to us" page.

Search for pages like “Donate to us”, “Contributors” or “Sponsors” pages.

Do some research that they mention links in exchange of donations on their websites or not.
